“Sometimes, you don’t walk toward peace. Sometimes, peace walks toward you. And sometimes, it looks like a masjid."

I didn’t move to this city to find God. I came for work. For growth. For chances I couldn't predict. But between chasing opportunities and trying to stand on my own, there were days I felt so far from everything familiar—even from myself.

Until one day, I stepped into a masjid near my temporary home.

I don’t even remember what pulled me in. It wasn’t planned. Just a quiet urge. Maybe longing.

What I do remember is this: the moment I entered, I felt held. Like the air itself whispered, "Welcome home."

💔 I Didn’t Know I Missed This Much

I sat in the back corner.
No one noticed me.
No one needed to.

Because for the first time in a long time,
I didn’t need anyone to.

There was something in the stillness.
The sound of Qur’an echoing softly.
The faint scent of sajadah and time.

I closed my eyes. And I felt something shift inside me.
A gentle untangling.
A breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.

🌺 The Masjid Became My Refuge

Since that day, I kept going back.
On good days, on lonely ones. During my period, I’d still sit quietly with Qur’an or du’a.

I didn’t need to have it together. I didn’t need to know what to say.
I just needed to be there. To exist in a place where I could remember why I’m here. Who I belong to.

The masjid didn’t ask me for perfection. It just let me come as I am.

And that felt like a hug.

✨ This Is My Starting Point

Maybe you’re in a new place, too.
Maybe you’re not sure what you’re doing.

But maybe, just maybe,
you’ll walk past a masjid that looks ordinary
and feel something extraordinary pull you in.

Go inside.
You never know what kind of hug is waiting for you there.

“She Misses Her Prayers When She’s Bleeding, But She Still Talks to God.”
A story about connecting with Allah even when I can’t pray.
